UF PRSSA
The University of Florida’s Public Relations Student Society of America Alpha Chapter was founded on April 4, 1968. It is one of the nine original chapters created, making it the oldest public relations organization at UF. The chapter aims to serve members by enhancing public relations knowledge through innovative professional development and opportunities. UF PRSSA seeks to foster positive and lasting relationships through a collaborative approach.
Throughout my college career, I have been heavily involved with UF PRSSA's executive board, beginning as a PRSSA Diplomat and now as the vice president of our chapter. I have led my chapter through the creation of new involvement initiatives for our members throughout the 2020 COVID-19 pandemic and prior in any way I could support our mission of creating developmental programming and further our chapter's reputation nationally.
PRSSA Ethics Competition
UF PRSSA participated in the PRSSA Ethics competition held by PRSSA National. I led our ambassador team to develop an article showing why the situation posed - the reopening of an agency during the COVID crisis - was an ethical issue and best practices surrounding the issue. Our submission was selected as the first place winner for Fall 2020.
Summer Media Institute
As a part of our mission to educate students about the options for careers in communications, we develop a yearly high school outreach plan. This year we partnered with SMI at UF to develop a communications plan to encourage students to attend the summer program.

In partnership with their team, I developed a multi-county contact list and emails that could be sent to schools and teachers who may have interested students.
Live-Tweeting
As a member of our executive board, a responsibility I took on during events was often live-tweeting. In addition to taking part in Twitter chats, I would live tweet during events our chapter attended and hosted. Here is a link to my takeover during the Spring 2021 Sunshine District hosted by UF PRSSA.
Instagram Takeovers
In addition to hosting our live-Tweeting sessions, I would often take over our Instagram account to promote events, highlight how to get involved in the chapter and share my experience as a member of our executive board.
Here is a snippet of my takeover during the 2019 PRSSA/PRSA ICON conference.
Gold Key Recipient
In August 2021, I was awarded the National Gold Key Award for my involvement within my chapter and PRSSA nationally. The National Gold Key Award, created in 1983, is the highest individual honor recognizing outstanding academic excellence in public relations and leadership bestowed upon PRSSA members.
